aso goes Potemkin // (Scott Johnson)
El Paso’s municipal authorities tried to protect Joe Biden against images of the disaster caused by the Biden administration’s open border policies. They didn’t want Biden seeing what he did. He is very aware of this. They tried to accommodate his desire to keep Biden’s underlying story from the media when they covered his stopover. He only spent a few hours at the port-of-entry. For the benefit of the media, he walked along the border wall alongside CBP officers.
The border wall looked as if it was doing its job. What can we make of this? It seems like nothing.
What a joke. I can recall Grigory Potemkin’s construction of fake villages to impress Empress Katherine. However, I must say that the prettifications of El Paso were not for Biden’s advantage. It was to protect Biden. He wasn’t fooled (although Deroy Murdock’s briefing about the chaos he created might have been a benefit to him).
I wrote about Biden’s “parole” program last week after its announcement. Biden described it as a program to protect the border. It is designed to increase and conceal illegal immigration flows. There’s an app for that. What a joke.
Others, such as Andrew McCarthy, have also attacked the legality and legitimacy of the program. Byron York discusses both Biden’s El Paso visit as well as Biden’s “parole” program, while arguing that Biden has made it more difficult at the border. That’s all I’m saying.
