Three 13-year-old students had encountered a white man at the time of the attack. It is claimed that Jason Eaton, 48 years of age, interjected himself when a group of people were communicating in a combination of English and Arabic. He did not say anything, instead drawing a gun and shooting. Eaton is in jail without bail and the police are researching the shooting to see if it was done out of hate. Elizabeth Price, the mother of Hisham Awartani, informed NBC News Sunday that he was shot in his spine and may not ever be able to walk again. The GoFundMe started by his loved ones reports that “we are grateful all three will survive this incident and Hisham’s companions are looking to heal completely.” Hisham was shot, and the bullet has embedded itself into his spine resulting in him being unable to move his torso and legs. He has shown amazing bravery, strength, and perseverance – even maintaining his sense of humor – in the face of his inability to move his body. Tahseen Ali Ahmad, Kinnan Abdalhamid and Hisham Awartani, were photographed together from the left. The image was taken by Rich Price, and syndicated to the AP. According to Price, her son will start intensive rehabilitation in a few days and the family is hoping for a positive outcome. She reported that he had sensation in his toes but couldn’t move them. Along with him, Tahseen Ali Ahmad and Kinnan Abdalhamid were also seen by the hospital for the traumas they had experienced.
