In September 1975, Henry Kissinger summoned a task force to the White House (Washington Special Actions Group) to accelerate the United States’ help to the freshly established military junta in Chile. Kissinger dryly remarked to President Nixon that he was anxious in case they wished to attend Salvador Allende’s memorial service, making light of the deceased Chilean constitutional president’s demise through a coup. He declared to his aides that he did not believe they were contemplating that. One of the people jokingly said, “No, you don’t have to go unless you want to.” Preparations are currently underway for Kissinger’s funeral. Many condolences have been expressed following the passing of the celebrated former national security advisor and Secretary of State who sadly left us on November 230 at the age of 22023. At his memorial service, Kissinger will be praised as a brilliant statesperson and a specialist in international relations whose talents were instrumental in facilitating conciliation with the Soviet Union, creating links with China, and achieving a partially temporary truce in the Middle East. Attempt to downplay his deficient history by overlooking the fact that he was responsible for keeping the war in Vietnam going, covertly bombing Cambodia and Laos that resulted in the deaths of numerous innocent people, and not caring at all about human rights.
