As American grapples with violence, fires, and other property damage, one question processing in our minds is why do those who start out marching for change, especially after events like George Floyd’s death, escalate into highly destructive rioting?
What is in the minds of these, primarily younger Americans, which internally authorizes and compels them to shout anti-American mantras, burn the American flag, and justify hurting others in their outbursts? I believe it is the manifestation of years of SJW (social justice warrior) ideology interwoven in the various school classes and re-inforced through social media, music, movies, and peer interactions.
Unlike past generations, the freedoms, opportunities, and ability to pursue your dreams, all be it at different levels of difficulty, and which once created an internal swelling of national pride, USA-USA, these national expressions, which connected us, have been replaced with statements like, “America is a white, racist, homophobic country which owes people of color reparations for slavery & injustices”. We have gone from the 1980 national unifying Olympic victory over the Russian hockey team and Ronald Reagan winning 49 out of 50 states in his 1984 presidential re-election, to an almost predictable reaction to our country, based on age & education systems attended.
History shows that in the Prussian eight-year education model, adopted in the early colonies, was successful in preparing students to contribute to society, a good citizen, and not a burden on the system. Unlike today, religious training was a core to their morality and considered to be paramount in equipping the students to fulfill the mandate of the schools.
The progressive US courts, starting in the 1960s, firstly “saw” an obvious Wall Of Separation between church and state in the Constitution, therefore they ordered the “removal of God”, The Bible, and Ten Commandments from the schools. The marxism prevalent in the German and Ph.D. trained school administrators, lead to the updating of the school curriculum, attempting to fill the voids left by the removal of the teaching, prayer, and the moral moorings provided by the belief in the Christian God.
This updated, secular based education system, has produced a less than successful history in the majority of the public schools. Student grades, exit testing, and graduation rates have declined even though the amount of funds spent per child has increased substantially. These results have varied and factors such as parental involvement in their child’s education, competency of the teachers, home environment, and teacher unions have been identified as the main factors in the student’s success.
Has our secular public school systems, staffed by educators, mosts of whom are part of liberal teachers unions, been effectively preparing the students to compete in the market place? Or has the decline been in the overemphasizing of our countries shortcomings, identification of SJW causes to pursue, gender issues, and all in a safe space environment with no winners or losers?
With the latter being true, I and others believe, these factors have partially lead to the violent expression of fear, hate & anti-American actions which are manifested through gangs, bullying, and even rioting.
From The Federalist
America Is Not Systemically Racist
“No one denies America’s original sin of slavery, including the Founders. But slavery and racism are not at the heart of the American experiment or its documents and institutions.”
“Injustice, unfairness, and bigotry are, indeed, an ineradicable part of life. But America is not a systemically racist society. Far from being fruit of a rotten tree, America’s founding principles form the best recipe for racial harmony, and rebuke to inequality, yet devised by man.”
Most ‘Educational’ Institutions Indoctrinate
“Well before protesters spilled into the streets in 2020, the largest national teachers’ union gave its official stamp of approval to Black Lives Matter and to indoctrinating teachers with the concept of “white fragility” and its supposed cause, “white supremacy culture,” as part of professional development. The effort to re-educate the nation’s teachers in the left’s radical image will also likely be accelerated due to the protests.”
As in every area of our lives, if something is not working, we change direction. Our public education is failing to prepare our children to compete in the workforce, while at the same time promoting sexual activity, moral relativism, openness to activism as social justice warriors, and unrealistic expectations of a global safe space free of micro-aggressions. When their needs are not met, or they feel unhappy, the manifestation appears in overreaction, at times bordering on hyper narcissism. In this state of mind, they are open to mob group think and to immaturity to think through the ramifications of violent rioting/looting.
With tough teachers unions defending the failing results of their schools, school vouchers allowing children to move to charter, religious or other successful schools are necessary. Homeschooling, if possible, would be the best solution in preventing all of the above from forming while setting their children up for success. In the end, I believe, this would help lead us back to a culture that treats each other equally and appreciates the freedoms we have as Americans.
