A Tale of Two Federal Grants for Public Education

The Department of Education offers separate grant programs to fund charter and community schools. The latter gives money to schools and families that are in need.

 Charter schools and community schools are funded separately by the Department of Education; the latter provides funding for what families and schools actually need, whereas the former does not. Either charter or community schools can be funded by the Department of Education through individual grant programs; the latter provides funding for what schools and families actually need, whereas the former does not.
