based on Newsweek
Guy Verhofstadt, a former French Prime Minister and latest member of the European Parliament, told Newsweek that Carlson’s work in Russia could put him in warm water with the EU.
Carlson was described as” a mouthpiece” of former President Donald Trump and Putin by the lawmaker, who has urged the EU to look into imposing a” travel ban” on him. He added,” As Putin is an active war criminal and the European Union sanctions everyone who aids him in that effort, it seems logical that the External Action Service examines his case as well.”
On Wednesday morning, Newsweek sent an email to the Tucker Carlson Network asking for comment. If a response is received, this article will be updated.
The majority of Americans have no idea why Putin invaded Ukraine or what his current goals are, Carlson said in a video statement on Tuesday, explaining his motivation for the interview.
” We love Vladimir Putin, so that’s why we’re here. We are urging you to watch the interview, never to concur with what Putin may say. You ought to be as knowledgeable as you can.
The EU’s External Action Service ( EAS ), which is in charge of foreign policy, is the organization that oversees international relations. Evidence must be presented to the EAS for review before a person can be placed on the EU’s sanctions list. If deemed sufficient, the EAS can finally argue its case before the European Council, a group made up of Union national leaders, which decides whether or not to impose sanctions.
The narrative is falling apart, and the EU is in panic mode! t.co/e7T1Lva5Xq

The Moscow Times penned the following:
The Moscow Times reported earlier on Tuesday that Russian authorities hope to use Carlson’s visit to influence American common opinion given his influence among conservative voters in the U.S., as well as to boost Putin’S image among Russians as he seeks re-election for a second term in office, citing numerous sources close to the Kremlin.
Given Carlson’s sizable audience, access to an American audience through him during the contentious Biden vs. Trump race is once more a chance to have that proverbial impact on the U.S. election, according to A Soviet official quoted by The Moscow Times.
The Kremlin confirmed afterwards on Wednesday that the American pundit had spoken with Putin the day earlier.
According to Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov,” Tucker Carlson’s views differ from those of the rest.”
They are not at all pro-Russian or Russian. Instead, he claimed, they are pro-American.
Since he arrived in Moscow on Thursday, the original Fox News star has been closely covered by Soviet state media, including the Defense Ministry’s Zvezda TV channel, pro-Kremlin TV celebrities, and Telegram news channels.”}]] [[{“value”:”

Per Newsweek:
Carlson’s work in Russia could see the former Fox News host in hot water with the EU, Guy Verhofstadt, a former Belgian Prime Minister and current member of the European Parliament, told Newsweek.
The lawmaker–who has called for the EU to explore imposing a “travel ban” on Carlson–described Carlson as “a mouthpiece” of former President Donald Trump and Putin, adding: “As Putin is a war criminal and the EU sanctions all who assist him in that effort, it seems logical that the External Action Service examine his case as well.”
Newsweek contacted the Tucker Carlson Network by email to request comment on Wednesday morning. This article will be updated if a response is received.
Explaining his motive for the interview, Carlson said in a video statement on Tuesday: “Most Americans have no idea why Putin invaded Ukraine or what his goals are now.”
“We are not here because we love Vladimir Putin….We are not encouraging you to agree with what Putin may say in this interview, but we are urging you to watch it. You should know as much as you can.”
The EU’s External Action Service (EAS) is the bloc’s diplomatic arm, responsible for foreign policy. For an individual to be added to the EU’s sanctions list, evidence must be presented to the EAS for review. If deemed sufficient, the EAS can then present the case to the European Council–the body made up of EU national leaders–which takes the final decision on whether to impose sanctions.
