By January 1, 2026, AB 3067, proposed by Assemblyman Mike Gipson ( D), “would require an insurer to include questions on an application for homeowners’ or renters’ insurance seeking specified information regarding the presence and storage of any firearms kept in the household, accessory structures, or vehicles kept on the property subject to any applicable insurance policy.”
Beginning on January 1, 2027, the bill would mandate that an insurer yearly report this information to the Department of Insurance and the Legislature, and it would forbid the inclusion of private information in the report.

According to The Post Millennial:
Only months after the state saw its ban on carrying concealed weapons in many public places blocked by US District Judge Cormac Carney, AB- 3067 was introduced into the legislature. Regardless of whether they had a concealed weapon carry permit or not, the law would have made it illegal for people to carry concealed weapons in open spaces like parks, playgrounds, and spiritual buildings.
California liberal politicians refuse to accept the Supreme Court’s mandate from the Bruen case and are trying every artistic ploy they can imagine to get around it, according to Chuck Michel, president of the California Rifle and Pistol Association, in response to the bill being blocked. The State’s gambit was exposed by the Court.
California’s ban on large-capacity magazines was declared unlawful by US District Court Judge Roger Benitez in September. He stated in the ruling that “keeping and carrying common firearm magazines normally possessed for legal purposes is illegal under a California state law.” ” Based on the text, history, and tradition of the Second Amendment, this law is obviously unconstitutional,” he declared.

AB-3067 was introduced into the legislature just months after US District Judge Cormac C. Carney blocked the state’s ban on concealed weapons in public places. The law would have prohibited carrying a firearm in public places like parks, playgrounds and religious institutions regardless of whether they have a concealed weapons permit or not.
Chuck Michel, president of the California Rifle and Pistol Association, said in response to the bill’s blockage, “California’s progressive politicians refuse the Supreme Court mandate from the Bruen Case and are trying to get around it with every creative ploy that they can think of. The Court saw right through the State’s gambit.”
Roger Benitez, a US District Court judge, ruled that California’s ban on large-capacity magazine was unconstitutional in September. In his decision, Benitez said that “this case is about a California State Law that makes it illegal to keep and carry common firearm magazines normally possessed for legal purposes.”
“California could care less about retail thefts, child mutilation or infanticide. But it feels entitled harass law-abiding gun owners. Charlie Kirk asked, “Will California use this database as a tool to punish gun owners?”
