A proposed merger between Trump Media &, Technology Group, the largely Trump-owned company that owns Truth Social, and bare check company Digital World Acquisition Corp. was approved in February before the Securities and Exchange Commission approved the merger.
SEC filings from 2023 revealed that Trump Media &, Technology Group had lost more than$ 31 million since it began operating Truth Social in 2021, with only a profit in 2022, according to reports that Trump was apparently trying to sell the social network at the time.
Donald Trump’s Twitter account was reinstated by Elon Musk in November 2022, but he has maintained his status on Truth Social.

It’s still unclear whether Mr. Musk intends to spend any money on behalf of Mr. Trump. His recent social media posts indicate that he believes it’s important that Mr. Biden is defeated in November. People who have spoken privately with Mr. Musk confirmed this view.
According to Forbes, with a net worth of approximately $200 billion, Mr. Musk may decide to throw his support behind Mr. Trump, and, potentially, almost alone, erase the huge financial advantage that Mr. Biden, his allies, and the former president are expected to enjoy.
Aides of Mr. Trump have not responded to a comment request. Mr. Musk has not responded to requests for comments.
