Sheriff Scott Byrd confirmed to WDHN that Mendoza is a citizen of the United States improperly.
In attente of a hearing with Judge Joshua Wilson regarding Aniah’s Law, Mendoza is currently imprisoned in Coffee County Jail without bond.
Sheriff Byrd says again Mendoza’s case is finished in Alabama, he will be deported back to his home country.

A 25-year-old Michigan woman was killed in a intoxicated carjacking attempt by an illegal immigrant from Mexico, according to a report. She is awaiting trial on an empty murder charge.
Ruby Garcia, 25, of Grand Rapids, was found deceased with apparent gunshot wounds on the westbound lanes of US- 131 about 11: 40 p. m. Friday, Fox 17 reported.
The Midwesterner identified the suspect as Brandon Ortiz- Pris, a 25-year-old illegal immigrant from Puebla, Mexico, despite Michigan State Police’s refusal to release information about a suspect in custody.

Sheriff Scott Byrd told WDHN that Mendoza was in the United States without permission.
Mendoza remains in the Coffee County Jail pending a hearing under Aniah’s Law with Judge Joshua Wilson.
Sheriff Byrd said that once Mendoza’s case in Alabama is over, he would be deported to his native country.

A report claims that an illegal immigrant, a Mexican national, has been accused of killing 25-year-old Michigan resident in a drunken attempt to carjack her. He is currently awaiting his arraignment for open murder charges.
Fox 17 reported that Ruby Garcia, 25, from Grand Rapids was found dead on the southbound lanes US-131 at 11:40 pm Friday. She had apparent gunshot injuries.
The Midwesterner, although Michigan State Police has not released any information about a suspect, identified him as Brandon Ortiz Vite, a Mexican illegal immigrant of 25 years old from Puebla.
It was unclear what the connection was between Ortiz Vite and the victim.
Mavi, Ruby Garcia’s younger sister, said: “He’s currently in custody. That’s all we know at this time. He is/was here unlawfully.”
According to records cited by a news outlet, he is expected to face charges of homicide/open-murder, carjacking and felony firearm. He will also be charged with illegally carrying a hidden weapon, driving while intoxicated and driving with a suspended or cancelled license.
