The Washington Post initially published an investigation into the investigation. Additionally, Baltimore Mayor Brandon Scott made the announcement on Monday that he would work with two law firms to “launch legal action to hold the wrongdoers accountable ” and lessen the harm done to city residents. When one of the bridge’s encouraging columns collapsed, the container ship Dali, which was loaded with cargo and headed for Sri Lanka, struck one of the port in Baltimore, causing the span to collapse into the Patapsco River, killing six members of the roadwork crew. The underground wreckage contains three bodies that have been recovered by divers, but the three others are also missing. The ship has been inspected 27 times since its construction in 2015 and the most recent inspection was in June 2023. The US Coast Guard last inspected the container ship on September 9, 2023 in New York. At the time, no deficiencies were reported. The FBI investigation is separate from that of the National Transportation Safety Board which is attempting to determine the cause and evaluate other safety-related measures.
