[[{“value”:”In New York City’s effort to provide funding for the care of illegal immigrants, an FDNY firefighter died from a heart attack months after being fired.
The 36-year-old’s death has left “his grieving widow and children struggling to keep a roof over their heads,” the New York Post claims.
Four months after the city gave him the boot as part of a larger effort to reduce staff and pay for housing and services for the tens of thousands of immigrants flooding the Big Apple,” Derek Floyd, 36, suffered cardiac arrest and passed away April 15,” according to the outlet.

The New York Post reports:
Floyd was one of about 10 fire department employees who had been “long-term duty” — sometimes hurt on the job and given office work or taken sick for an extended period — and were fired weeks before Christmas, according to FDNY sources who spoke to The Post.
Floyd, a veteran who served three tours in the Middle East with the Marines, was one of the people who worked a desk job in the fire department chaplain’s office because he had a heart attack that he had experienced in 2019 while he was a student at the Fire Academy.
In the chaplain’s office, the firefighter, who was on changed duty, helped arrange the funerals of fallen FDNY members.
Before being fired, the married father of two younger children was attempting to get medically cleared to re-enter the firefighting force.
Floyd was just shy of receiving additional medical benefits for his family and more than$ 600,000 in death benefits when he was fired, leaving his family with nothing despite his years of service.
” I would n’t wish it on anyone”, Floyd’s 34- year- aged widow, Cristine, told the outlet.
” I believe it certainly took a toll after they let him leave,” he said. He always tried to, like, stay positive about it, and he was n’t really angry”, she said.

His family is then squandering money and having nothing.
” If Derek had stayed on, he would have been covered by a life insurance plan with the FDNY. That would have been more economically advantageous because it’s currently really awful. I’m actually swimming in a lot of debt”, his widow said.
He leaves behind his wife, and two children, 6 and 2.

Collin Rugg X Post has these images, but they are not exactly accurate.
After his firing, Floyd accepted a position with a nonprofit that supports veterans.
” The pay was a fraction of what he made with the FDNY, the benefits were limited, and the hours prevented him from spending time with their kids, a 6- year- older boy and 2- year- ancient girl”, the New York Post noted.
” If Derek would have stayed on, he would have had a life insurance policy with the FDNY,” Cristine told the news release.
” That would have been more financially beneficial because it’s currently really bad. I’m actually swimming in a lot of debt”, she added.
Why do we put veterans and first responders like Derek Floyd out of work instead of supporting unlawful aliens about whom we are unaware? This must stop!”! Jeanine Pirro commented.

Floyd’s firing was part of City Hall’s plan to slash the FDNY budget by$ 74 million by the end of 2025 to make way for migratory spending.
