Task force now recommends breast cancer screenings start at age 40

An expert advisory panel recommended Tuesday that women should begin mammography screenings regularly at age 40, and continue every two years until age 74. The U.S. Preventive Service Task Force changed its previous recommendation, which recommended that women begin biennial mammograms at age 50. However, they said this decision was made because of the increased incidence of breast cancer among younger woman.
