One of the first whistleblowers to accuse Boeing’s supplier Spirit AeroSystems of making a mistake was Dean. In April 2023, he was fired. Dean had breathing problems for two weeks, so he was taken to the hospital. His condition began to worsen. Before developing pneumonia and an treated bacterial infection, MRSA, he was infected with the infection. According to a CT scan, he likewise suffered a stroke”, Collin Rugg wrote.

The Seattle Times reports:
Dean had testified in a Spirit shareholder lawsuit and had even lodged a complaint with the Federal Aviation Administration alleging” critical and gross misconduct by top quality management of the 737 production line” at Spirit.
In April 2023, Spirit fired Dean because he had complained to the Department of Labor that his termination was retaliation for raising issues involving aviation safety.
Parsons claimed that Dean, who had trouble breathing for more than two weeks, fell sick and was taken to the hospital. He was intubated, developed pneumonia, and later developed a severe bacterial infection, MRSA.
His condition quickly deteriorated, and he was taken from Wichita to an Oklahoma City hospital, according to Parsons. There he was put on an ECMO machine, which circulates and oxygenates a patient’s blood outside the body, taking over heart and lung function when a patient’s organs do n’t work on their own.

Per Fox News:
In describing the agonizing condition, they revealed the infection had” totally” taken over his lungs and asked for prayers. His hands and feet were being considered amputated, but he was too poor for surgery days before he died.
” Our thoughts and prayers are with Josh and his family”, Dean’s attorneys, Brian Knowles and Rob Turkewitz, told Fox News Digital Thursday. Josh’s passing leaves a legacy for both the flying public and the aviation industry. He exhibited incredible courage in fighting for what he believed to be straight and true, and he raised safety and quality issues.
He was being represented by the same law firm that was working for John Barnett, another Boeing whistleblower who police in Charleston, South Carolina.
According to the attorneys,” Aviation companies should encourage and motivate those who do raise these concerns.” ” Otherwise, safety and quality are certainly not these companies ‘ best priorities”.
The day after giving a deposition in connection with his personal retaliation lawsuit in March, Barnett, 62, was discovered dead of a gunshot wound outside his hotel.
Barnett had sued Boeing, claiming that he had been retaliated against, harassed and spied on by the company. He never showed up for his next day of depositions. His attorneys rang in response, and hotel staff located him dying in the parking lot.
Barnett reportedly told a friend: “if anything happens to me, it’s not suicide”.
