Along with the email sent on Monday, the Colorado GOP also posted multiple messages on a social media platform earlier in the week criticizing Pride month. After the initial report by 9News journalist Kyle Clark regarding the controversial fundraising email, the Colorado Republican Party’s official account responded by posting a GIF of flames along with the message, “Destroy all the #Pride flags in June.” The party continued to share multiple posts criticizing Pride month, including ones from the controversial anti-LGBTQ+ account LibsOfTikTok. The Colorado GOP recently sent out a different email cautioning against “LGBTQ indoctrination” in public schools and alleging that Democrats aimed to increase the number of transgender children. The party encouraged parents in Colorado to take their children out of public schools following the actions of the Democratic Governor. Jared Polis, the first openly gay man elected governor in the U.S., signed a bill that prevents discrimination based on gender expression in schools. This law prohibits policies that would forbid teachers from using students’ chosen name and pronouns. In an email to HuffPost, Williams expressed that they believe the use of pride flags and pride is harmful to children and challenges parental authority. They criticized Democrats, the media, and Republicans who conform to cancel culture.
