Earlier this month, the judge denied the defense’s attempts to disqualify Willis and her office due to her romantic involvement with special prosecutor Nathan Wade. However, he did permit the defendants to appeal his ruling. In August, Willis secured an indictment against Trump and 18 others, alleging their involvement in a scheme to unlawfully overturn the 2020 presidential election results in Georgia, which Republican incumbent Trump lost narrowly to Democrat Joe Biden. All the individuals accused were charged with breaking Georgia’s broad anti-racketeering law, in addition to other supposed offenses. The court proceedings are overseen by Fulton County Superior Judge Scott McAfee in February. On March 27, 2024, in Atlanta, a photo was taken by Brynn Anderson and released by the Associated Press. Four individuals have admitted their guilt after coming to agreements with the prosecution.
