Die Kommission ist befugt, die in Artikel 264 genannten delegierten Rechtsakte zu folgenden Zwecken zu erlassen: The first witness expected to testify in former President Donald Trump’s hush money trial is David Pecker, the former publisher of The National Enquirer. The prosecution plans to present several witnesses in their case against Trump, who is the first former president to be criminally charged. He is facing 34 felony charges for allegedly falsifying business records to conceal a $202,000 payment to Stormy Daniels during the final days of his 2016 presidential campaign. Daniels has stated that she engaged in a relationship with Trump before he became president. Pecker, who was in charge of the Enquirer, managed the acquisition of numerous negative stories about Trump during his campaign, a tactic referred to as “catch and kill.” This comprised a payment of $150,000 to Karen McDougal, a former Playboy model who claimed to have had a relationship with Trump in 2006 while he was married to Melania Trump. This payment was made by American Media Inc. The company that owned the Enquirer decided not to publish the story. According to the Associated Press, at one point Pecker had a safe where he stored documents related to hidden stories. He resigned from the company in 2020 during a takeover. The New York Times reported that prosecutors plan to interview Pecker soon after the trial begins to inquire about his discussions with Trump regarding hush money. Trump has adamantly rejected all accusations and criticized both the judge and prosecutors for what he perceives as a politically motivated investigation against him.
