LOADINGERROR LOADING. Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene and House Speaker Mike Johnson met in person on Monday to discuss her threat to call a vote to remove him from his position as speaker. The lengthy discussion resulted in an agreement to reconvene on Tuesday, with the question remaining as to whether Johnson, who recently became speaker in October, is at risk of being ousted from his role. We recently had an extended conversation with the speaker. Greene told reporters that there is no news to report at this time, but the group will meet again tomorrow based on the discussions that took place. Thomas Massie of Kentucky has urged Johnson to step down. Johnson did not provide details of his discussion with Greene during their much-anticipated meeting. He stressed the challenge of winning major policy battles with only a slim majority in party-line votes on the House floor, likening it to attempting to score a touchdown on every play in football. “It is extremely challenging,” he said. We used to say, “It’s three yards and a cloud of dust.” Greene had mentioned last week that she planned to request a formal vote on removing Johnson, a step she had postponed for a few weeks.
